Rising Because of Failure: The Journey from Rejection to Reinvention

There was a time when every sunrise felt unbearably heavy. I remember waking up not with enthusiasm to chase dreams, but with the quiet determination to survive another rejection. The world around me seemed to move forward while I stood still, haunted by unanswered applications, missed opportunities, and the echo of “no” that grew louder each day.

I failed in school.
I failed in college.
I failed in competitive exams that were supposed to define my future.
I even failed in government interviews, six of them, even after clearing the written stages. Then came the private sector interviews, where sometimes I wasn’t even given the courtesy of a second round. My early startup attempts collapsed before they found a name or identity. And beyond all these visible failures, there were deeper, quieter moments, those when hope itself felt like a stranger.

There were nights when I questioned my worth. When I stared at the ceiling, asking myself if perseverance was still worth it. Each morning felt like a battle between giving up and holding on. Yet, amid those struggles, I began to see that every “no” carried a message. Every rejection wasn’t the end of my story; it was a nudge to look inward, to rebuild differently.

And one day, when all doors seemed to close at once, a realization dawned upon me, perhaps I wasn’t meant to walk through someone else’s door. Maybe I was meant to build my own.

From those ashes, a new version of me began to take shape.

I started again, not with confidence, but with quiet persistence. I worked at IBM, Wipro, and NIIT, gaining insights from every challenge. Later, I became an educator with Unacademy, not because I had all the answers, but because I had learned to never stop asking questions. Each rejection became a lesson in resilience; each failure laid the foundation for the person I was becoming.

There’s a quote that resonates deeply with me: “The universe breaks you first, to see if you deserve what you’re asking for.”

Looking back, I understand what it means. The breaking was not punishment, it was preparation.

Today, I am not defined by trophies or titles, but by the scars that built my strength. I am proud to call myself a lifelong learner, currently pursuing Entrepreneurship & New Venture Creation at IIM Kozhikode. I am a TEDx Speaker who once couldn’t muster the courage to speak in college. I am honored to hold a Doctorate in Entrepreneurship from Washington Digital University (USA).

And I wear multiple hats, not for recognition, but to create meaningful impact. As the Director, Founder & CEO of three ventures, each represents a chapter of that growth story:

  • Cloveify Wearables Pvt. Ltd., where we are redefining sustainable fashion.
  • NXT Unpause Yourself Pvt. Ltd., a movement dedicated to helping individuals rediscover themselves.
  • Krishivardha Agro Pvt. Ltd., an initiative focused on empowering farmers through innovation in agriculture.

I’ve been the candidate they didn’t hire.
The student they didn’t believe in.
The entrepreneur they doubted.

And now, I’ve become the voice telling others that failure is not the opposite of success, it’s the price you pay for it.

You cannot rise without falling. You cannot inspire without first breaking. You cannot truly lead without losing yourself and finding something greater in that loss.

To everyone standing where I once stood, tired, uncertain, unseen, please don’t give up. Your story isn’t over yet. You are simply living through the part that builds your strength for what’s next.

Because the truth is, I didn’t rise despite my failures.
I rose because of them.
